The Y&R set was abuzz as L.A. Laker Luke Wilson taped an appearance on Y&R this week. At 6'8", Luke towered over many of the cast and crew, as Christian LeBlanc loudly joked that the show should stop hiring tall people. Of course, Christian didn't actually have a scene with Luke; that honor fell to Kristoff St. John, who got to shoot a few hoops with the NBA star. Luke and Kristoff had a great time with their scene, which they rehearsed a few times and then taped in one take! Then they took time out to pose for the photographers who had invaded the Y&R set. Luke was also kind enough to pose for a few photos with members of the crew and to sign a few autographs.

Luke's acting debut, which will air Wednesday, August 30, was a huge success! Maybe it will be the start of a whole new career for this talented athlete...

Last weekend, CBS held their Summer Press Tour at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Pasadena, Calif. At the press tour, television critics from around the country gather to meet the casts and producers of the new fall primetime series. This year, CBS included a special session for Y&R as well, to celebrate our more than 17 years as the number one-rated daytime drama. Peter Bergman, Tracey E. Bregman and Don Diamont appeared at a press conference with Head Writer Lynn Marie Latham to answer the reporters’ burning questions. Tracey looked fabulous in a black backless dress with turquoise beading, Peter was smashing in a tan suit, and Don impressed the ladies with his jeans and plaid blazer.

Critics from TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly and other national magazines, along with reporters from newspapers around the country, peppered the Y&R panel with questions. One reporter begged Lynn to reveal the paternity of Phyllis’ baby, but Lynn insisted she would have to tune in on Wednesday like everyone else! Peter joked about the fun the Y&R cast is having with the new basketball set, and Don and Tracey reminisced about being locked in a cage together years ago. After the session, the actors hung out at the beautiful Ritz pool until it was time to attend CBS’ star-studded party at the Rose Bowl that night.

The cast and crew of “Y&R” is back from a one-week hiatus, which gave everyone some well needed rest and relaxation. The Insider has had a great time catching up with the actors, many of whom left town for the break. Thad Luckinbill told us about the great time he had at the Monte Carlo Television Festival in glamorous Monaco, where he got to rub elbows with Prince Albert! The beautiful Sharon Case attended the festival as well, before traveling and shopping on the French Riviera. Meanwhile, Kristoff St. John jetted off for a week in Miami and Peter Bergman headed out of town to his vacation home near the ocean.

Now it’s back to work here at CBS Television City, and the cast and crew have already spent some late nights. We’ve been shooting some heavy emotional scenes, as well as some action-filled nail-biters. We’d love to tell you details, but the storylines are top secret! In the meantime, be sure to tune into “Y&R” next week, as Victor will receive a medical diagnosis for his visions and hallucinations, and the paternity of Phyllis’ baby will be revealed!
