I see Eileen's hubby on the World Poker Tour which airs on the Travel Channel here. He's one of the hosts and one lucky dude to be married to Eileen.

Yes.. it's true, here in France, "y&r" is called "les feux de l'amour".. and the soap is on TV since 1989. However, here, we watching only the 2002's year. Love from France.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday,Eileen!
Now on another note...I have to comment on Eric Braeden's performance of the"new" Victor...absolutely incredible! From going to "ruthless" to sweet and sentimental as realistically as he has, has been amazing to watch. The writers have done an incredible job!
It appears the blow to Victor's head when he came to Nicki's rescue at the car-jacking, may have altered his personality. And, having Jack take advantage of Victor in this fragile state, is MORE than ruthless! Now, when and if Victor starts to come-around, and get back to his "old" self, OMG, look OUT! I just hope his altered state isn't permanent! As sweet as he is right now, it's just NOT Victor! I know from doing some research that a head injury can cause alzheimers or dementia. Please....Victor....come back!

Eileen is terrific. In 1989, after years of continuing viewership of Y&R, my enthusiasm spiked again with Eileen's return. I like that she plays, ostensibly, one of the show's "heroines"...but she can actually be a pretty nasty, messed up woman sometimes. In other words a real person.
Interestingly, I'm enjoying a renewed spike in enthusiasm. The team's many changes lately (some of which, I'm sure, have been painful or difficult behind the scenes) have totally re-awakened the audience. As proof, I submit the flurry of buzz and activity on usenet
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs
and a recent Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article

People are talking about Y&R again! Soap mags too. Way to go. Let's hope the ratings start to climb back over 5.0 and 6.0!

I read on a soap board that quoted someone whose friend recently visited Y&R's set recently that Ted Shackelford is again off the show; the thinking being that the Jill/Will/Ashley storyline was going nowhere. While I will miss him, I would have to agree. And kudos to Ms. Latham for sticking to what she says she does when storylines are going nowhere: ending them. But hopefully Jill will meet another man soon. Great show!

What about the Ashley/Paul storyline those two don't have much spark.
And I think Nick and Phyllis are so weird together. Except for the sex scenes. Their characters seem to change in the pressence of each other. This has been one of the most upsetting storylines, good old affair i guess, they really expressed the consequences, and I really felt for little Noah, this kind of story is redundant but it really captured my emotions. The audience doesn't believe these two should be together. Y and R is my favorite soap!

I think that Nick and Phyllis need to become a couple!!! Him and Sharon need to be over!!! I dont like Sharon anymore!!! "NICK AND PHYLLIS"
they are a wonderful couple!!!

I watch the show because of the interesting actors but my favourite is Eileen Davidson and I havent seen much of her in the last few months. Is she going to be returning more often?

I am so glad to see the Y&R team address epilepsy. I too have temporal lobe epilepsy. I don't see the subject addressed much in the media.
Thanks!

Happy Birthday Eileen, and many more years to come. You are a great actress. I love your performance. I am also glad,to see that the writers, are making a story line about Nick and Phyllis. They have strong feelings for one another. I think they belong together, with a little one on the way. Sharon did not really try to hold on to the marriage, she was chasing Brad. I can't wait, until she learns that he changed his name to Brad Carlton, which is really George Kaplin. I love this story line,it is getting dramtic

I have watched the Y & R since the very begining. Love it, love it, love it !!!!!
Somebody PLEASE find a nice lady for Jack. This man is getting old and needs a good woman to take care of him.
Running Dru and her family in the ground. No good story line there..Let it go. Victor's story line is interesting. Trying to figure out if I like him this way. Not sure yet. Trying to get use to Nick and Phyllis story line. Sharon is getting on my last nerve. Whatever happened to Sharon's mom? How can you just drop her like that. Got to have a Mom in there, especially with the story line like you have going now. Sharon needs support...
Just get Jack a story line with a woman.
Keep up the good writing..

To the producers and writers!
Do you even know what the meaning of family is? Why all of this sex non sense with Nick and Phyllis, leaving Noah without a father, while Phyllis who has never been a great mother get made into a saint? The way you are doing Dru is a crime. She deserve better then that creepy disrespectful pin headed husband of her's who want the number 2 tramp in town{Carmen}, Phyllis is number 1! Get off your sorry behinds and write something worthy of my time!

I think the YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS is making a huge mistake letting JOHN ABBOTT die and leave the show. Can they just perform a miracle and please let him live. This is so tragic. I went through this with my Dad and it breaks my heart watching JACK AND ASHLEY AND JILL AND MRS. CHANCELLOR WITH TEARS FLOWING DOWN THEIR FACES. I WENT THROUGH IT ALL AND YOU SURE A DOING A GREAT JOB WITH THE STORY AND THE TEARS.ASHLEY ESPECIALLY BROKE MY HEART TELLING MRS. CHANCELLOR THAT SHE WASN'T READY TO LET HER DAD DIE; THAT IT WASN'T HIS TIME. I TOLD MY DAD THE SAME THING.WHEN ASHLEY AND JACK WERE AT HIS BEDSIDE WITH THEIR FLOWING TEARS, I CRIED TO. IT BRINGS BACK ALL THE MEMORIES OF MY DAD AND I CALLED HIM AN ANGEL TO. I JUST LOST MY DAD APRIL 2004. IT IS STILL SO HARD. PLEASE DON'T LET JOHN DIE. LET HIM LIVE SO WE ALL CAN BE HAPPY AGAIN.

PLEASE MORE WITH NICK AND PHYLLIS....THEY ARE SO HOT...GET RID OF SHARON AND ALL HER WHINNING AND PLAYING LITTLE MISS INNOCENT...AS I SAID MORE GOOD SCENES WITH NICK AND PHYLLIS

The writers on the show should be commended for a job well done. You really made it seem real that Mr. Abbott died. I sat in front of the TV set with tears streaming down my face, especially when Jack, Traci, and Ashley--and even Gloria--were saying their good-bye's!! Mr. Douglass (sp?) was such a fine actor and we are all going to miss his character immensely!! Keep up the good work. And kudos to all the actors involved in those heart-wrenching scenes--they made it seem so real. Bet their eyes were burning for a couple of days after their scenes--they had to cry so much. And I am sure that it was easy for them to cry for their scenes due to the fact that Mr. Douglass was such an icon on the show, and I know they thought of him as a real family member. Goodbye, Mr. Douglass, you have done an awesome job over the years!!

My heart & soul was shattered today at the passing of a great icon - John Abbott. I am in shock, numb, disbelief that this is happening. None of us ( fans ) know or even to begin to understand why. I have recently suffered loss of a loved one in my family and was hoping for a miracle , Jerry Douglas is a magnificent actor that deserves to have his charector continue on "living" and not dead. "PLEASE RECONSIDER" . There has been other story lines where it started out this way & ended up as a dream that someone had. Remember " Dallas"? and how the charector "Bobby Ewing " a.k.a.-Patrick Duffy was brought back? They did it now, please you sure can . Let John Abbott live !!!!!! Let the story line continue with him . There have been so many actors & actresses through the years that have stayed on untill the good Lord said " time to go" and not some writer doing it. Jerry Douglas is a major part of Y&R , just as Eric Braeden . We as fans know what we want & we want John Abbott to Live & we want Jerry to continue playing him . It's not Y& R without him!!!

What an incredibly powerful show today, and how painfully sad to lose John Abbott. I am 33 and have watched Y&R since I was a kid. I'm just stunned the show would let such a wonderful actor and character go. Kudos, Jerry Douglas, on your impressive legacy.
The good news is Beth Maitland returned today. She is magnificent as Traci, and her scenes with John, Jack and Ashley moved me the most. Beth is such a skilled actress, and Y&R would do itself a HUGE favor by bringing her back on contract or recurring status. Now that John is gone, she is the heart of the Abbott clan, and, oh, what story potential there is to include her in the Abbott-Fisher war, as well as in Colleen's storylines. Colleen needs a mothering influence, and Y&R needs a "real-world" presence such as Beth to infuse these sometimes "out there" storylines with gritty emotion.
Y&R writers, I hope you are listening! Please review Traci's backstory (including her rich backstory with Lauren, Brad and other characters) and you will see what incredible material you have to mine with an actress who fans want to see back!

I wish, as many of you viewers, we would be able to wake up and John Abbott's death would be just a dream.
I have watched J&R since day one. I watch it more than once a day. I go back to the days when Victor
had a sound proof room built to keep his then wife
(I can't remember her name) from leaving him.
It is getting extremely hard to watch the scenes between Nick and Phyllis. I realize it is a way of life today but watching Phyills and Nick is just
too much. I feel for Noah. I was so pleased that Ashly did the right thing and stood by Jack about the funeral arrangements. It is time that Gloria be put in her place which should be off the show. How can a person do so many underhanded things and pay no consequences. If the preview for monday's show is right I guess she will do it her way again. I feel for anyone who knows what it means to love a parent and this Gloria person comes along for all the wrong reasons and suddenly "she loved him so much" RIGHT.
Posted by: grace pietramala at August 19, 2006 6:25 AM
Now everytime I watch Y&R all I can do is cry. Watching Gloria say goodbye to john for the last time at the hospital was more than I could bare. I'm in some way still hoping that John would come back . Someone could wake up from a bad dream & realize that John wasn't really dead .Why did it have to be him?! Why could it have been someone else , anyone else but not him? He is one of the main characters that makes the show. With Victor, Nikki,Kathryn,& John thats what Y&R is . Please ,Please , PLEASE reconsider & bring John back .
Posted by: Grace Powell at August 21, 2006 10:06 AM
John will be back - his ghost will be appearing at least 40 times in the coming months.
More intriguingly - what is Jack up to? Can you believe that hug he gave Gloria in telling her that she is part of the family.
