Peter Bergman’s birthday was Sunday, June 11, and he spent the weekend celebrating at his vacation home on Balboa Island, Calif. with his wife Mariellen and daughter Claire. “My birthday was pretty low key this year,” Peter told the Insider when we caught up with him in the bustling CBS commissary. “One of the things I wanted to do for my birthday was to read the whole Sunday New York Times. I didn’t read the whole thing, but I probably read a full article in every section of the paper. It was just great.”

But Peter was most excited by one of the gifts he received. “Mariellen bought me a new Armani suit,” he said with a grin.

The “Y&R” set was a buzz last week when New York Mets pitcher Tom Glavine stopped by for a visit, along with his wife, Chris. Turns out Tom and Chris are huge “Y&R” fans and have been watching the show for years! Tom told the Insider that he’s been tuning into “Y&R” ever since he started playing in the big leagues in the mid-1980s. He watches when he’s traveling and also at home. Sometimes he’ll play golf in the morning and then come home and watch his soap!

Tom and Chris had a great time on set, as they watched some scenes being taped and met Joshua Morrow, Sharon Case, Christian LeBlanc and Tracey Bregman. Joshua, who is a big sports fan, was thrilled to meet Tom and chat about baseball stats and scores. And Tom and Chris also paid a visit to the director’s booth for a special behind-the-scenes look at a “Y&R” taping. Of course, producer Ed Scott jokingly swore the pair to secrecy, since they were watching scenes that won’t air for a month!

As the Insider reported earlier, Kate Linder recently hosted her 8th Annual Afternoon Tea at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Luckily, Kate has generously sent us some snapshots from this fun-filled charity event to benefit Queen’s Park Healthcare Foundations Musical Therapy Program.

The Young and the Restless
Y&R cast mates Amelia Heinle, Thad Luckinbill and Judith Chapman were happy to make the trip north to attend Kate's tea. "The Canadian fans are fabulous," Kate told the Insider. "Y&R is so popular in Canada - it's on twice a day there! The people in Vancouver are always so welcoming and hospitable."

The Young and the Restless
Handsome as always, Thad wowed the ladies when he arrived at the tea. "Thad’s been up to Canada before, and the fans always go crazy for him," Kate said.

The Young and the Restless
Judith, Thad and Amelia answered questions from the audience, along with Y&R's Emmy-Award winning make-up artist Patti Denney.

The Young and the Restless
David Lago was a surprise guest at the event.

The Young and the Restless
Amelia Heinle helped auction off some of the Y&R memorabilia. "We made almost $10,000 from the Y&R set tour alone!" Kate shared.

Kate took a break from her busy day to pose with Patti Denney and David Lago. "We all had such a great time!" she said.
