May 2, 2006
Emmy week is over and the Insider is still recuperating. We had a great time attending the show and walking down the red carpet with the “Y&R” stars. Everyone looked fabulous as they stepped out of their limos to a barrage of photographers and screaming fans. The red carpet was packed with stars from the world of daytime, who posed for photos and chatted with crews from Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, The Insider, SOAPnet and hundreds of other reporters from around the globe. Then the stars headed up a glamorous staircase, past a giant Emmy statue and into the Kodak Theatre.

The Insider had a special pass to get backstage. We got to see the winners come back to the press room immediately after being presented with their Emmys. Of course, we were most excited when the “Y&R” writing team arrived, Emmy statues in hand. It was fun congratulating Jack Smith, Kay Alden and the rest of the writing staff on their well deserved award!

By the end of the three-hour telecast, everyone was starving (except the Insider, who was noshing backstage) and we headed upstairs to the Grand Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland complex for a delicious dinner from Wolfgang Puck catering. The Insider spotted Tracey Bregman and her husband, mom and kids dining with Doug Davidson and his wife, while Don Diamont and his fiancée Cindy joined Amelia Heinle at another table. All in all, the “Y&R” gang stuck together, with cast, crew and actors gathering together to enjoy their meal.

Then it was on to the CBS Daytime Emmy party, which was held at the Annex at Hollywood & Highland - just a few hundred feet from the Grand Ballroom. At this classy but fun event, we mixed and mingled with the casts from all of the CBS shows. A DJ spun tunes as Kristoff St. John, Adrianne Leon, Michael Graziadei and Davetta Sherwood tore up the dance floor. Others chatted and “oohed” and “ahhed” over the “Y&R” writers’ Emmys. (Trust us on this one: Emmys are heavier than they look.)

Here’s to another great Emmy season! Can’t wait until next year!

I was a little dissapointed that Y&R didn't win the big award of the night but I have a feeling next year will be Y&R's year! I have 2 questions. Do you know when Y&R will update it's opening theme and Thad Luckinbill's birthday was 4/28, why wasn't it mentioned on here?

Congrats to Y&R for winning best Writing.....it was well deserved! I loved seeing the cast and crew all dressed up with their significant others! Please post some pictures!!!!

Like I said before the Emmy's, how can the number one soap (meaning most watched) get swept like Y&R did? I think the "academy" or whoever is off their rocker. They hate the fact that Y&R has been number one for so long that they will do anything to chop it down a notch.

Actually, I almost didn't watch it because I knew how it was going to turn out. That and the fact that the show was so-o-o-o long, I will not watch it next year. Thank goodness for Tivo! This year's show was HORRIBLE!

Y&R continues to be innovative and all of the fans can rest assured that it is number one for a reason. What's more important, viewers or emmys?

It's such a shame that Tracey Bregman did not win the Emmy. She really would've deserved it.

And also, Y&R should have won the big award. But maybe next year they'll have better luck!

Y&R is at the top of the ratings for several weeks and doesn't win any of the acting awards or best daytime drama? What's really going on? I think the judging this year is a blatant admission of how political these awards really are. Looks like a repeat of the questionable skating judges from the winter Olympics. I believe it has nothing to do with who is the best and everything to do with which show 'they ' want to promote this year.

I was more than a little disappointed that Y&R did not walk away with more daytime Emmys. Certainly, the process does not appear to be viewer-driven as much as it is more political. What I do not understand with so many daytime viewers and so nuch talent how was it that Y&R did not take home more of the Emmys. Perhaps next year, I hope Y&R will bounce back. Meanwhile, I congratulate the Writing Team for their Outstanding Writing Award. SM

I was disappointed that Y&R didn't win more than one Emmy at the April 28th show. Y&R has been #1 over 900 weeks now. I have no idea who votes for the Emmys but that need to take along-hard look at Y&R, after all there's a reason or more then one reason that it has been the #1 drama for so long. All the nominees deserved to win, but at least Y&R won Best writing, also won some Creative Arts Emmys. The actors/actresses ,writers, etc are all winners.

very good show! I hope that Lily and Daniel will always be together!

What,s up with MG & DS are they dating in real life? because you see them in so many photos together that don't have anything to do with work.
Michael Graziadei said in an article that he enjoy playing married, because he don't get a love life outside of Y&R & he is busy with work. He also said that dating outside of the show is far from his mind. I don't have a problem with them dating, because they are really smoking together........

What kind of signal is the show sending our youth today? That's right, don't listen to your parents, even though you are a minor. Do what you want!

Sorry, I love this show and have watched it for 24 years, but this is one irresponsible storyline.

Hey it is only a show, don't get all bent out of shape. These things happen wheather you want to except it or not, this is today's youth with out the drug use. I like Michael & Davetta they seem more real than any other teen story line on any other network. Hey those two keep the story interesting & hot. They need to show more of them with less grown up drama. I love watching them and I have a 15yr old daughter who watches it with me and she loves them together. There relationship helps my daughter come and talk to me about any & everything........

I have watched the Young & The restless since Nikki & Victor got married. I love the show with all my heart. I cried for 3 days when Cassie died. I love the fact that Daniel and lilly are married, they deserve each other.

I simply love Y&R, and I look forward to watching Lilly & Daniel aka Michael & Davetta. I have 1 little problem; why do the writers have them in so much grown up stuff and not enjoying life and each other. They are suppose to be young and in love. But everytime you see them they are talking about some type of drama that is going on. Back when I young and in love I never new what was going on in my parents life or anyone else for that matter and I didn't even care. Let's Keep it real, and let them have some fun and get them away from Dru, Neil, Phyllis, Nick, Jack, Colleen and JT. And let them go on some cheap honeymoon vacation that they never had.

Before making my comment, please be assured that my long absence from this forum is in _NO_ wise meant as a reflection of my attitude toward it, which remains what it previously was--that this forum, unless it has changed since I was last here, is no less than one of the most-civilized forums of its kind I have visited to date! Most of my "Soap Talk" of late has been in private correspondence, and thus I have just not been spending time in public forums for such.

As for the young Winters couple, I am not at all ill-content with them discussing issues related to their parents, etc. This may be influenced by my inability to actually see what is on the screen, but, though such has been a central element of soaps from the very beginning, I personally prefer drama and the like to long "make-out" scenes where little or nothing seems to happen, unless, of course, I especially like the couple doing such scenes!

I would further wish to comment on last week's Episode wherein the late Miss Cassie Newman appeared to her adoptive father in a dream, but will first check the remaining threads to find out if there is already a discussion going reference this where I might add my comments.

Hoping this finds all of you well,

J. V.

I just read on for the Y&R summer teaser that Daniel & Lily are going to have some trouble. So I guess the writers are going to break them up. They said that Daniel past is coming back to hunt him. So now with everybody cheating on everyone, I think the writers are going to let Daniel cheat or do something that's going to upset Lily. I just want to know, are the writer's ever going to let anyone be happy for more than a few months. Just think Nick, Phyllis, Jack, Gloria, Kevin, Sharon, Colleen, and Mac before she left and Noah, Oh I forgot Victoria when she finds out about Brad. All of these people are unhappy, And then you have Micheal & Lauren they are going to be unhappy. Poor Victor he is making Niki happy only because of a head butt to his brain, other than that he would be his old nasty self. I hope the writers tune in and let my couple stay married for more than a year. Now U all have to agree they sure do make a cute couple.
