« Stage Struck with Kate Linder | Home | Happy Birthday to Michelle Stafford! »

September 13, 2005
On Sunday, September 11, Judith Chapman, Doug Davidson, Jerry Douglas, Kate Linder, Blair Redford, Asia Smith and Co-Executive Producer/Head Writer Jack Smith headed north to Naval Base Ventura County, home of the Seabees, the Naval Construction Battalions. There, they held a Meet & Greet with military families - and some officers as well.

The "Y&R" cast members were welcomed to the base by Captain Paul Grossgold, Commanding Officer, Naval Base Ventura County, and Command Master Chief Ronald Von Dyck. After a quick buffet luncheon, they began signing photos and chatting with the long line of military fans who had gathered to see them. Many of the families attending the event had a loved one who was serving in Iraq or who had recently left to help out with hurricane relief on the Gulf Coast.

The fans had a great time meeting some of their favorite stars - and they often jokingly put in their two cents about "Y&R" storyline. Of course, the cast members sent them directly to the man-in-charge: Jack Smith!

Thank you for posting these photos. As a military child, sibling, and spouse, I know how much those at NCB Ventura County appreciate your presence and gratitude. I have family deployed to both the storm recovery and the war overseas and every little bit of public support for our guys and girls is welcomed. Thanks to the actors, Mr. Smith, and the Insider who took time out to make the trip and share the experience. Y&R really is the best.

The name of the base, by the way, is Port Hueneme.

- MAJOR salute to our fine men and women in uniform AND to the Y&R staff for visiting with them.

- See, I told you not to bring Sheila back. The storyline is somewhat intersting, but who was the dialect coach working with Kimberlin? That accent was horrible. Sorry. I do admit though, the first time I saw her in her disguise, I didn't know who it was.

I readily join others in commending the _Y&R_ Staff and Actors for taking Time to make that Appearance in Support of our Troops!!!

For what it is worth, while they were appearing in California I was participating in the first-ever America Supports You Freedom Walk from the Pentagon to the Reflecting Pool located between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. While the _Y&R_ Staff were entertaining our Naval Personnel in California, Mr. Clint Black was entertaining here. It goes without saying that _ALL_ Entertainers who take Time, etc., to support our Men and Women in Uniform and also, in this specific Instance here in Washington, help to remember those who were lost on 9-11, should have our _SINCEREST_ Thanks and Commendation!!!

Poster Joe, though I did not exactly hang on every Word, I personally do not think Miss Brown's Accent was bad, and hopefully this Anglophile knows something about British Accents. And Miss Carter is going to do something on ToDay's US Episode which puzzles me, though hopefully there will be some Clarification come Monday's Episode!

JV - All I can say is that you're too nice. English dialect was the first one we learned in Intro to Drama 101 in college. Sorry, it was not up to professional calibre.

Dear J.V.

I agree with Joe that Miss Brown's Brit accent in my view is "terrible". My sister's in-laws are British and believe you me, they certainly do not sound anything like what come out of Miss Brown's mouth.
I too Mr. Vaughn am an Anglophile, and we here in Canada speak the Queen's English. You really are far too kind.

I have been away from both this Thread and Board for several Days now, but wish to again say that I did not pay especially close Attention to Miss Brown's Accent, thinking it unimportant, so will have to defer to you Critics on this Point. Based on how this Storyline is now playing out, I would expect that we may not be hearing that Accent much, if at all, anymore.

And what puzzled me this past Friday, being myself unable to see it, turned out to be Mrs. Fisher having something stuck in her Throat? and Miss Carter dislodging it. I was under the incorrect Impression that she had done something bad to Mrs. Fisher. We thus can understand why Miss Carter later reacted so violently to having to do something good at that Party instead of the Evil which doubtless she was planning. And how will Mr. Grainger react when he presumably finds out that the Story he is writing is about his Brenda, and that his Mother is the Woman for whom she has so much Hatred? Whose Side will he take? We wait!

Hello everyone,
Here in Jamaica we are the real Y&R fans. Not a day pass that we are not glued to our TV screens to see what next exciting is going to happen. I bit of caution to the writers and directos. you need to pay special attention to the ages of the young characters. I usually believed that your soap was the closest to reality. Please dont let me down. This is the only soap I really watch. Why? Because I can relate.
Nuff love.
