Rachel Kimsey has some rather daring plans for her birthday on Sunday - she's going skydiving! As you may know, Rachel is an experienced stuntwoman with a very adventurous spirit. "I wanted to climb Half Dome for my birthday," she told The Insider, "but I'm working on Friday and Monday and I wouldn't be able to make it to Yosemite and back in time, so I'm going sky-diving."

Rachel's trying to enlist a few of her "Y&R" co-stars to join her, but so far she's had no takers. "Everyone says, 'oh that's really awesome that you're going,'" she laughs, "but nobody wants to come along!"

Who was the singing group who sang at the end of the show?

Posted by: Joe Hagadorn at August 26, 2005 10:03 AM

I watched the show today, Aug. 26th and saw Il Divo - what was the song they sang - I want to buy the CD. It was beautiful - thank you.

Oh! My Goodness!
I Have never much cared for the song Unchained Melody, but the group that sang it today gave it true meaning. I cried! That was "soul-renderingly georgious." Please, please tell us who it was in real life. They are amazing. If
they have a CD I'd like to go get it. If not
someone had better sign them up. Pronto!!!
Thank you Y&R for such an
unforgetable performence!

I love them too! The group is Il Divo. There's a little blurb about them at www.soapcity.com/yr/news_events/

Kudos to Rachel for having the daring to go skydiving, and what a bunch of chickens her co-stars are! My husband and I went skydiving for our first anniversary and it was a great experience.

I just purchased the CD re the "quartet" singing at the end of today's show. It is called "Il Divo." The whole thing is wonderful. I think after watching this show for over 25 years the scene with Nicki and Victor and then Sharon and Nick was probably the best ever with Il Divo singing. It was beautiful! Keep up the good work Y&R!

I love Rachel Kimsey, I think she is the best Mackenzie ever. Never cared about any of the Mackenzie story lines before but Rachel has brought a bit of spunk to the character and her spunk is obvious...anyone who wants to skydive for their birthday...wow you go Rachel!!! I would go with you even though I have never done anything like that before. Have a Happy birthday.

You do a great job as Mac,Rachel. You are a 500% improvement over the other "Macs". J.T. is a lucky dude. Happy, happy, birthday. By the way, Il Divo was discovered by Simon Cowher of "American Idol".

Posted by: Bob at August 26, 2005 9:21 PM

Happy Birthday Rachel! I hope you have a great time skydiving! I am really enjoying your portrayal of "Mac". You have made this character your own! Keep up te great work!

I cannot yet make up my mind between Miss Bashiom and Miss Kimsey as Miss Browning, but I also cannot doubt that the Latter is a good Actress, and wish her well, both on her Birthday and for the Sky Diving she plans to do on it!

I do not think I had heard Il Divo prior to Yesterday's Episode, but admittedly was rather moved by their Performance of "Unchained Melody (is this the first Time that this Song, which I first heard back in the 1950's, some Years before the Righteous Brothers (if I have the right Group) got ahold of it, has been sung in Italian, or is it perhaps an Italian Song which we are only now hearing in its Native Tongue?)," even though I could not actually see what was happening onscreen during it (I would venture that it must have been rather beautiful!). And to think that this was set up by another moving Scene, that of Master Romalotti and Miss Winters re-uniting!!! If I may please ask, am I to be the only one who celebrated this Triumph for which so many of us seemed to long (in the 17-August Thread)?

Where can I purshase the CD "Il Divo" the quartet that was singing on friday aug 26? Thank you.

Posted by: Diana Hanson at August 27, 2005 4:00 PM

I have read many of the comments about Il Divo, and I have to concur with everyone....their performance was awesome. I have watched Y & R for over 20 years, and for the last 11 years my husband and I have watched it together. We tape it each day, and our favorite way to enjoy the episodes is to have a weekly "soap marathon" and watch all 5 episodes on Friday night so we can just catch up on everything all at once.
I love Y & R, and Il Divo was a great treat!
Keep up the great writing...and so sorry to learn about William Bell's passing. He did a great job for a lot of years!
I'd love to write again sometime soon.

Happy Birthday Miss Rachel Kimsey.

Posted by: Sam Miller at August 27, 2005 11:05 PM

I too love ll Divo, they made me cry along with Nick and Sharon at the end.... What a great addition to the show. Plese, please, please don't drag this thing on with Sheila and Lauren, seems to me you're really reaching for story line. Kevin and Michael are GREAT together, they're so convincing as brothers as is Daniel and Phyllis as mother and son.... Wish I could say the same for the new Victoria. JT and Mac, love them both but not sure what I want you to do with them, sometimes I want her and Kevin to be together but then again, I want her and JT to be together. Kevin needs someone,,, I'll leave it up to your very intelligent writers.... Keep up the good work. My husband and I have both watched Y&R for over 20 years and will continue to watch each and every day...

Hi:

Does anyone know the name of the song that was played when Daniel and Lily first made love in their little hiding place? I remember the artist sang the word Sunshine.

The song was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.

Is there a CD out with that song?

I seem to recall reading, in an Episode Summary, that that Song, in Fact, is called "Sunshine."

Thank you
Sarah

I am looking for the exact title song by IL DIVO which was featured in the scene with Nikki and Victor.
I have found one album of IL DIVO, but no one knows what the name of the song is. I do know that it is also the featured hit on the "Ghost" blockbuster with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.
It is a beautiful song and would love to own it. If anyone can help me find the tune, please email.
Thank you so very much.

Miss Case told me a Year or more ago that she usually does not make Personal Appearances nowadays except sometimes as a Substitute, though she was planning to appear inPhiladelphia in June of 2004 had that Event not been canceled. Yet, seeing that she now has designed a Living Room for Sears, _JUST_ _MAYBE_ she could make Appearances to promote it, though she has not mentioned such to me (perhaps because none of these are to be here in the Nation's Capital?). I _STRONGLY_ believe that she writes her own Letters, especially given that all but one (the Latest in which she told me of the Sears Project) she has written to me have been Hand-written, and a Fan Site's Owner also accepts this.

As has been written elsewhere on this Board, the Song which Il Divo sang last Friday is called "Unchained Melody." It goes back to at Least the 1950's, some 10 or so Years before the Righteous Brothers Recorded it, that perhaps being the Version you heard in _Ghost_.

I, also, loved the "Unchained Melody" sung by the Il Divo group. Much nicer than the original, as I remember it sung in the '50's.

I'm a great-grandmother who has watched this show faithfully for many years.

Two suggestions for the writers: I'm still waiting for "Cassie" to return in some form; look-alike, twin, ghost, whatever. Please????????

Also, waiting for "Victor Newman Jr.", Hope's son to come on the scene and claim HIS piece of "the pie" from Nick, Victoria and Abbie. I think It'd make a great story line. We Senior citizens like the interaction between the young people; takes us back in time to our own emotions as teens. (The Young and Restless should be just THAT!!!)

I have especially enjoyed the love stories between J.T. and Coleen, (before this latest disappointing reunion) and between Lilly and Danial. Earlier, I liked the pairing of "original" Mac and Billy, and Victoria and Ryan. I am ever the romantic, and love the "Romeo and Juliette" idea. Keeps us "young"!!!

I AM A STORM SURVIVOR. OBTAINING BASIC ESSENTIALS ARE HARD.THE ONLY THING I CAN RELY ON IS BEING ABLE TO WATCH Y&R WHEN I GET HOME NOW THAT I HAVE ELECTRICITY AGAIN.BUT BECAUSE OF THE STORM I AM UNABLE TO WATCH IT BECAUSE OF THE CONTINUING COVERAGE OF KATRINA. THOUGH I AM SYMPATHETIC I WANT TO WATCH Y&R ON THE TELEVISION NOT READ ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET.

SORROWFUL SURVIVOR

Posted by: tweety at September 5, 2005 2:18 PM

For those of you who might be interested, I checked Il Divo's CD, and "Unchained Melody" is indeed the last Song on it!

Poster Rose, Mr. Smith told SoapCity that we have not yet seen the Last of Miss Grimes as Miss Newman. I think it rather obvious that any other Appearances she might make would be in Dream Sequences such as we already have had from her. As I just wrote in the 29-August Thread, may she, through these, work some Last Magic to the Good of those who hear, and hopefully _HEED_, what she has to say!!!

I heard of your birthday skydiving. I was both a skydiver and an Army paratrooper. Would you agree that when you "step out" there is no sensation of falling...but if you step off a curb unexpectedly you feel like you fell off a cliff? Norm

I just wanted to say to Rachel your doing a great Job as Mackenzie. You have just hit our screens in Australia. Its always hard to get used to a recast but your infectious smile just lights up the screen so you warm to the character instantly looking forward to your future storylines.
