Day One - Zuma Beach
Today we shot some scenes with Christel Khalil and Michael Graziadei as they rode in the back of a pick-up truck on Pacific Coast Highway. It was quite a sight to see our director, Mike Denney, in the back of the truck with Michael and Christel with his little camera. He would hang over the side of the truck and shoot. The scene was the first time Daniel and Lily see the Pacific Ocean, so Mike wanted to get some scenic shots.
It was fun parading down Pacific Coast Highway, and we had four highway patrol cars driving and stopping traffic. I have to admit that it was pretty cool to have a huge line of traffic behind us. For a change, I was behind the last cop car, rather than having him behind me with his red lights on! We stopped a lot of traffic and we held people up, but they weren't too upset. They were just curious.
We assumed that during our two days of shooting there would be "June Gloom," which is that infamous Southern California weather condition where it's overcast in the mornings, but we've had perfect, clear weather. It's unbelievable. Usually, when Mike directs a remote, it rains or something, but in this case, the weather was perfect. We had surfers and birds and pretty girls...it's quite nice out here. It's a lot better than being in a studio, you know? And the actors are all delivering. Joshua Morrow and Michael Graziadei had a big stunt to do, and they did it in one take. One take. It was a miracle. These guys are awesome athletes. It's just a lot of fun to work with these people.

I have never written and I hope this will be read. I have seen Y&R since 1984 and I love it. I tape it and I watch it over my lunch hour.
I would like to suggest to tell Brittany to stop putting her hand on her stomach like if the baby is going to fall out of her. I had 2 children and I was not going around holding my stomach. I see pregnant women and they don't do that, and I saw Ashley do that when she was pregnant with abby and now Brittany is more obvious. Is it only me that sees this or is there anybody else that has notice this. Hope she will stop or let me know what is the point of her holding her stomach every time she comes out in the show. Thank you

I wrote this morning commenting about some new characters but I don't see it posted on any of the comment pages. I know that you screen them for any harsh remarks. Hopefully, you can see by my morning comments that I am a long time fan who has enjoyed the plot lines over the years, but there has to be a point where you aren't trying to continually redeem every deeply desturbed person in town. As for the comments of the lady who wrote before me on this page, she is right. I'm watching the show right now, and that's all Britney does do is hold her stomach. It is a bit too much. It almost looks like she's self-conscious about having the big belly, so she wants the audience to know that she's pregnant.
Maybe some one should tell her.

We agree too. Tell Brittaney to stop holding her belly! We too had children and we never did that!!! We love the story! Hope Bobby can stay on! He so hot!

Its exciting to read some experiences from Mr.Scott himself! And lucky them all to have a fantastic weather: I am sure all outdoor scenes will look fantastic on TV. Shame I can't see them as the show's been axed in the Netherlands.

I used to rub my tummy all the time when I was pregnant, especially after I had a miscarriage. I found it reassuring to rub my tummy, as it helped me stay connected with my pregnancy. But that was just me. They could have Brittney doing that because she almost lost it before. As far as Ashley's pregnancy with Abby, she lost a child as well so this may be why rubbed her tummy lots too. Just my opinion though.

I hope Daniel is vindicated, somebody please remember seeing him the night of the accident asleep in the back of that car!!!! Ha, they make a cute couple, have fun on the beach guys!!

Yes, I noticed the same thing as well, but I think her feelings are she wants to keep her baby safe and feels by holding her stomach that it will help, plus it is her first baby & she is young & doesn't have guidance from anyone especially her mother who expressed she was a mistake. I think Brittany is an awesome actress!!

I found the comment that the people being held up traffic wise weren't upset. I live here and believe you me when traffic gets held up people are not "just curious"!

Watched these awesome scenes this week...loved them. Now I am very curious as to why their would be stuntwork involved in this shoot....but of course I will stay tuned to find out! Great shots Mike!!

Hmmmm...I'm very curious as well about the stuntwork! I guess that means Nick found them?! Can't wait to watch! And thanks for sharing this. I love behind-the-scenes stuff. :)

I love on location shoots! They give the show such realism. Plus, as you all know, the major metropolis that IS GC only has one coffee shop, one school, one athletic club, etc. It gets a little boring after a while. I know that on-location shoots cost $$, but it so refreshing.
I was hoping that Lily would run away with the surfer. I have never been a fan of the character. She doesn't look anything like Malcolm, I mean Neil or Drucilla, plus you have her playing such a brat! Please have this entire experience mature her. As I've posted before, it seems like it's one of the prerequisites of playing a teen actor on this show. Be a brat! Hopefully this won't be an issue with the new Scott. Then again, how old is he going to be anyway?

I have been a big fan of The Young and the Restless ever since the first showing back in 1971 0r l972 I always take the show so i can lay in bed and watch it.. i wish that everything would straighten up for Daniel and i think he is starting to remember what happened the night of the wreck but i am afraid the Nick is not going to except what really happened that Cassie was driving with out a license. Also, i hope that John Abbott and his family with start excepting Kevin and Michael and let it be one big happy family.

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE SHOW SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL,I WOULD SIT DOWN AND WATCH HE SHOW WITH MY GRANDMOTHER. I REALLY LIKE MAC AND I WISH FOR ONCE SHE WOULD FIND REAL TRUE LOVE J.T.

I am really enjoying the remote location shoot so much! It's a nice change of pace than the usual G.C. sets. I also love the runaway story and budding romance between Lily and Daniel. I for one think Christel Khalil is a talented actress, and that it doesn't matter whether or not she looks like Malcolm, Dru, or Neil. Daniel doesn't look like Phylis, Jill doesn't look like Catherine, Nick doesn't look like Victor, etc. They aren't related in real life so I wouldn't expect for them to look alike anyway! Haha. But anyway, I am a fan of Christel, and Michael Graziadei as well. I think both actors have great chemistry together and I can't wait to see what develops between Lily and Daniel in the future!

I am extremely disappointed with Y & R for getting rid of John Enos (Bobby). I hadn't tuned in to the soap for years until I was channel surfing and discovered J.E. was on the soap and I became interested in watching it again. I was never a Brad fan and I wouldn't have cared a bit if he left instead of John. I want John to stay and hope that they change their minds about letting him go!
As for the fan who hopes that John Abbott and clan becoming "one big happy family" with Michael and Kevin: do you really think it would happen in soapland? I could be wrong, but I think Tom and Gloria are in cahoots, possibly involved in a dirty scheme to try to get hold of the Abbott fortune! I think there will be quite a revelation ahead!

Great location shots. I can hardly wait for the truth of Cassie's death to unfold. Phyllis will finally turn to our old charming self and seek revenge upon Nick and the whole Newman clan. Amen to that. The casting department should have casted Victoria as Mac and Mac as Victoria. For a rich Newman girl, why does Victoria dress like she is 17 years old in such unbecoming fashions. Mac is too big for JT. I love the Gloria/Mike\Kevin storyline. Fantastic.

Silverheart, you obviously cannot read between the lines, so I cannot respond. She's still acts a brat, thought I agree that she is probably a fine actress. It's how they are writing her character that I do not like. Or will Daniel be put in the slammer long enough for her to fall for the new Scott?
BTW - on another subject, can someone tell me what Kevin does for money? He said he wanted his mom to help him get his own place, yet he doesn't want to spend the money that Michael gave him. He said he wanted to save that. OK, but at last check, he still doesn't have a job. He told Gloria that he needed first and last month's rent, but what about all the other months in between? Can someone put a call into the continuity department? We have a code red emergency!!!

Wow, was I surprised with yesterday's final shot, Michael walking in on Ashley and Terrible Tom. I thought that it would take forever to reveal that fact. I'm impressed. Soaps are notorious for dragging these plot lines out, but I have to admit I didn't see that one coming. I'd like to give you a glimpse into some of your viewers. Some of us are closet writers, that's why this forum is so liberating. I just discovered it yesterday,and I've already written three times. Thanks for a chance to vent . Talk to you soon.

I loooove the romance between daniel and lily. Please do not take this away from us Daily (daniel and lily) fans like you took away jt and colleen's romance. I understand when contracts are up sometimes people have to leave. But so many of us were hooked on that romance and we still miss Lyndsy Fonseca very much and would like to see her return. But there are alot of people interested in the budding romance between daniel and lily and I think they could develope into something intruiging and unique. Some people compare them to jt and colleen but i dont think they are all that similar. Christel's acting skills are getting better and better and she is just great. Michael Graziadei is just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! These two have alot of chemistry and I can see more of a story for them wether they are being mushy and romantic or goofy and just hanging out i just enjoy watching the scenes between these two. Thanks for this lovely pairing I am looking forward to seeing more and more of Daniel and Lily!

Lily is gettting WAY TOO MUCH airtime. She has had as much airtime as Eric Braden this past year and just about every storyline seems to envelope her in some way. I don't mind teens on the show and I even like some of the teen romances you've come up with in the past(original Mac and Billy were great, as were Nick and Sharon as teens), but I don't care for Daniel and Lily. I love Daniel, but Lily's desperation for a boyfriend (ANY boyfriend) turned me off to her a while back. She doesn't need a boyfriend right now. She needs serious counseling to figure out why she gets so attached to a boy and desperate at the drop of a hat. I wonder if she'd be so in love with Daniel if she were aware that it was HIS idea to make Kevin a "hero" by hiring Alex a while back. Knowing how desperate she is, she probably wouldn't care as long as she has her boyfriend.

I think that Lily and Daniel are 1 of the best couples I've seen!! They look sooo good together!That storyline keeps me watching! I would watch anyway because it's sooo exciting!!
I sometimes think that you guys need 2 lewave some happy couples like Sharon and Nick they were fine!! Now Victor and Nikki are happy n I think that's wut they shud stay like!!

Today is Thurs.Aug 25th. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SHOW, YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. STARTED OUT WITH LILY SEEING DANIEL. AND THEN VICTOR SURPRISING NICKI WITH THAT FABULOUS GROUP AND THEN JOINING THEM WAS SHARON AND NICK. IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SHOW I HAVE SEEN, TEARS WERE RUNNING DOWN MY FACE. I CALLED MY SISTER AND SISTER IN LAW AND THEY WERE ALSO IN TEARS.

I HATED THAT YOU LET BOBBY MARSINO GO OFF THE SHOW. I LOVED TO WATCH HIM AND HIS ACTING WAS GREAT. NOW WHAT I REALLY NEED TO KNOW IS THE NAME OF THE FOUR ITALIAN OPERA SINGERS THAT SANG ON TO-DAY'S SHOW. THEY WERE AWESOME! TOTALLY! AND DO THEY HAVE A SINGLE OUT ON THE SONG THEY SANG? Yes i would also like to know who sang the song "I believe in you - Sunshine." The song was also played again during the Sept. 2nd. show, while Lily and her mom Dru waited at the airport and Lily was thinking back about her and Danial..If you know the exact name of the song and who sings it i would really apprechiate if any one can Help.....Thanks
